well, its finally up. so enjoy and bask in its sweetness. some things still haven’t been put in but the main shell of it is done, so adding stuff will be easy in the future. there are some new things down the sidebar, shared rss items from my google reader, as well as my twitter feed. there are still some sifr things i have to tweak, so if some post titles look a little funny ore really out of place that will be fixed soon. as well the iphone skin isn’t done yet. but thats fairly easy to put together once i have some time.
overall there were some design things i had to drop from my original concept just due to development restrictions, but it still looks pretty much the same overall. so enjoy and let me know what you think.
well. i magically somehow (thanks to my brothers friend matt) figured out the stupid ie 6 and 7 issues i was having with the new blog layout. so. as of now. a week after i coded the full firefox and other regular browsers, and lots and lots of fighting with ie, its set to go. there are some live tweaks that i will have to do, but tomorow (or today as it is now) it will be live. some features will be missing cause they will be added when needed. but should be a nice change. so keep a look out.
well was going to do a boring post about how i spent all weekend moving all my email into google apps gmail and fully using imap with my iphone and how big an ordeal that was which took me all weekend. as well as that i wont be using my iphone as a phone for a while cause the telus contract kill fee is way to ridiculous, now that i have an actually number thats been given to me other than my guess’timations.
but instead i actually got into photoshop, and fireworks as well, and did a crap load of work on some new designs for the blog. mainly the design is now in the forward direction, got 75% of it done. so i just have to detail the crap out of it, work some things out, then *bam*, i get to build it. i’m pretty pleased with it so far considering it just kinda happened. running across the right font sometimes just sparks something. other than that i did some designs for my back end server, as well as started the temp splash page for the main elicitbliss.com. that 2005 portfolio really needs to go. there isn’t much to replace it at this point. but something kinda new with not much up there is better than something that doesn’t really show my current design level. so i’m hopping this weekend i get it built in my beta area so that i can push it over to live sometime next week. o, and the new wordpress 2.5 backend is freaken sweeeet.
ps. new laptop soon.. its in alaska. mr fedex tracker told me so.
ugh. was hopping this would happen after my london trip. did a software update, for quicktime itunes etc, and part way though the install it mainly froze up. so i hard restarted, tried again thinking it was just a fluke. same thing happened. opened up firefox as well and it wanted to do an update, and it to froze up the system. this was last night.. and it was late and i was tired so i said i would deal with it later. did it again after work today. so i opened up disk utility and boom. failing… in nice red text.
now i was planning on getting a black macbook soon. i thought at first before i go to london, then decided id wait till i get back. spread out expenses and all. but i guess not. now to decide if the macbook will be good enough or if i really should get the 15″ pro. got to figure it out soon or it wont be delivered in time for the trip. i specifically chose flights with new interiors to take advantage of the built in power plugs. ugh.
just booked my flight to london for the begining of april, 3 - 13. i’m prety pumped for it. brad is currently there for school, so makes it super convinient. he’s right in downtown london as well, and works in a bar currently. we are also going to get into europe and hopefully take a two day trip or something to paris and maby another location. kristoph as well will be living in germany by then or just getting settled. so that might attract us in that direction. can’t say no to a free floor to sleep on. also can’t wait to ride the trains all over the place, way to many photos will be taken.
as i had mentioned previously, andrew is no longer a doosh. he was gracious enough to gift me a dunny this past friday as a house warming gift. he also claims he will gift me more of his doubles as well. which means dunnys and munnys collections will start. i have for a while wanted to decorate a munny myself as a little art project. you wont catch me grabbing those crazy $300 limited edition dunnys though. i’m not that insane yet, and i’ve put of collecting dunnys long enough it seems.
was away at st anne for the weekend this previous weekend (not the easter one, the one before that). was a good little get away, relaxing, rejuvenating. all that crap. not as much snowboarding as you would have though happened, going with a beginer can do that. but that wasnt the point of the trip. wasnt really a trip for me either. was suppose to be an escapte to NYC but the flow of moneys was an issue. i will be hitting the slopes friday night, and possibly going to st sauver on the weekend or some weekend coming up. will be good, my hopes for a strong boarding season didnt really happen. this being on the longest ski/board season we have had in a while. people to go with was one of the main issues, as well as transportation, and i’ve just been busy as hell it seems. at least i did whistler over the holidays. thats once a year for the last three years. not to shabby.
picked up some plants on the weekend. more precisely a tree and a plant (that i think will bloom flowers). as well as accommodating pots for each. has defiantly added a decent change in atmosphere to the apartment. i am please. was feeling to dead, and they as well added a decent colour variation and contrast.
cs3 had given me issues over the weekend. got that all sorted out now, as you can see by my ability to crop the above picture. so i’m going to try and push out the stuff i wanted to over the long easter weekend over the next little while. which didnt happen due to elements of ass’ness. now its just an issue of focus. but i’ve seemed to get that ability back as of late.
so my cs3 is not co-operating with me currently, so a bunch of the updates i was planning on getting up this weekend have been stopped in their tracks. hopefully i can solve this issue soon….
as an extra note.. andrew has been removed from doosh status. not that he really belonged there in the first place.
yup. its been a while, but the new place is all set up and i’ve settled in quite nicely, just need to get a couple plants to add some colour. some curtains might help to. for the past while i have pretty much just been bumming around gathering ideas, but its been tough actually getting back into design. yes i work and design all day, but interface design is quite a bit different than the design work i was doing during school. i’m struggling to get back the mentality i had during school. there are many different factors that have contributed to this sluggish mentality. pretty much my previous living situation really drained me and there was never any real time i could sit down and focus when i had the chance or wanted to. then i was stuck in my parents basement for 2 months in a not so productive environment. then away for the holidays and then spent january moving and weekends away.
getting motivate lately has been really hard. surfing design sites for hours after work has only really put lots of ideas in my head but no passion to sit down for hours and do them. so to help iv decided to read some books iv read before that i got during school. what read textbooks? nop, designer monograph books. i’ve been reading “tell me why” by karlssonwilker, and i’ll read sagmeister’sbooks after, before i order his new one (things i have learned in my life so far) when its available sometime in march when the order i just placed arrives next week :P.
one thing that i think is effecting me is the environment that my studio station is set up in. i think it needs a little more life to it and personality. the new teknision space is very energetic and bright and open, where my station at home is somewhat tight, constrained in a corner and mixed it with to many other things. i don’t seem to shy away from sitting around on the pc at home which is in the living room and right by the big open windows, and in a much more open space. which makes me think that its a environment setting issue. what solutions do i have. not many. there isn’t much space in the living room for two stations. why not swap them? i have the pc on all day and night doing stuff, where the g5 i put to sleep at night so its nice and quiet sleeping. i had both machines in the same room when i was at the uplands house, out of the bedroom, because we had an extra space for the living room on the main floor. so i’m down one room this time around so iv had to mix things together.
trying to de-clutter the desk and add some personality and brightness to the desk might be my best bet for now. maybe change the orientation of the monitor so that its not a solid wall behind it so it doesn’t seem like i’m in a confined corner. then maybe i’ll spend more than 15 minutes there at at time thinking about doing something, before gallivanting off to the pc or 360 for some entertainment in a more inviting space.
had a chance to take some pics of the new place i’m in downtown. there are still some things to get and finish up, need a real couch and some curtains etc.
was going to wait to put them up when i got the new blog/site designs done and up. but that will take a while longer. iv been busy almost consistently since i got back in january from the holidays. so there will be a bit update on whats been happening soon…. (again i say soon)
