phew… made it back alive. vacation was awesome, whistler was awesome, vancouver was awesome… yay for awesome. the only things that weren’t awesome was the rain on 2 of the days of skiing. mt baker was one. we went there on saturday (the day after i arrived) 2 hours south of vancouver and over the border. border story…. the us official wondered who had been to the middle east.. that was tyler.. since his passport has middle east things in it from his co-op placement in lybia… so several questions ensued. that was entertaining. but ya, we get to mt baker and its raining. the whole drive up was dry and sunny, but nop we got the rain cloud that was stuck between the mountains. was still good and i wana go back with good weather. the mountain is pretty much a ski anywhere place. there are lifts all over the place, i think 8 or em, which don’t have safety bars btw which was a lil sketchy in the wet rain, but ya.. good place for good weather.
whistler was whistler weather. moderate temperature.. ok to no visibility at the peaks, and snow mainly everyday we were there. but wednesday was the day of days. it was sunny, fresh soft powder, clear visibility, and we did first tracks. if you don’t know what that is, well simply, you pay to go up an hour or so before everyone else (600 ish people can do 1st tracks) and you get breakfast at the top as well. o was it worth it, fresh tracks on a sunny clean, not so cold, fresh powder day. well, you can just look at the pictures and see. we did 9 hours that day. wich is usually way more than you do normally at whister. if you can make it past 2pm on a normal day your winnin. (mountain closes around 4 just so ya know) then we had a wet friday and that was that.
we did st patties day in vancouver. found a good bar that wasn’t over packed and had a live band. we were able to get a seat, and spend lots of money. then on brians and tylers awesome idea. took the last sea bus across to north vancouver and got stuck there. yay…..not. wandered around a lil while waiting for the 2am bus across to downtown, then got a taxi back to brians place.
other than that, good to be back and i feel so refreshed. though there seems to be little snow left here to do anything much on the east cost to finish the boarding season.
powder day pictures
day 1 pictures
their all cell phone pics, so excuse that, other slr pics commin soon.
well, vacation time begins today at 2pm. it shall be a long day, i get in at 11pm vancouver time… which is 3am ottawa time. as well i have a plane transfer in toronto, hope they dont loose my shit.. if anything make sure my board gets there, i care not of the rest of my junk.
stories shall follow
ahoy… o that pirate down there entertains me.
couple days ago i updated the content on the sidebar… updated as in i took away the delicious link item thats used on the teknision blog and added “Shared RSS Feeds”. the shared rss feeds links to the share page on my google reader. any items i tag as share in google reader will pop up in the side there… things i find interesting or that i should link spam everyone with… they will be updated fairly regularly to mainly several times a day as i read though me ridiculously large amount of feeds that i follow. im being very selective. but ya take a look.
i might try and add a ‘page’ (never though id say that) to this blog for all the feeds i follow and such. maby…. so dont get your hopes up. if you want me to, leave a comment… more people who do, the more likely peer pressure will work.
